Game 5 back in Antigonish

The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Championship Series is now dead-locked at two games apiece after Liam Andrews scored his 14th and 15th goals of the playoffs for the Capstone Colts, including his 15th on a short-handed effort with 1:37 left in regulation to give the Colts a 3-2 win in Shearwater Saturday evening.

As well, the short-handed marker for Andrews was his third of the 24-25 playoffs and his eighth when you combine his regular season and playoff totals.  As for goals, Andrews now has 38 when you combine the regular season and playoffs.

Andrews first goal came only 19 seconds into the second period after the teams played a scoreless first period.  With only 34 seconds left in the second, Will Normandeau tied it for the Bulldogs to send the teams tied at 1-1 entering the third period.

It took the Colts other sharpshooter Finn Merritt only 1:57 to put the Colts up 2-1 in the third before Campbell Barrett scored for the Bulldogs to tie the game at 2-2 setting up the show-down for Andrews short-handed effort in the closing stages while the Colts Camden McKenzie was serving a two-minute tripping infraction.

Conar Brace turned away 29 of 31 shots in the Colt nets while Adam Tkacz stopped 32 of 35 shots in the Bulldog nets.  The Bulldogs after Andrews eventual game winner played with an empty net for the final 1:33 but could not come up with the equalizer.

The series now returns to Antigonish Good Friday evening at 7:30 for Game 5 and then back to Shearwater for Game 6 Easter Eve at 7:00.  If a seventh and deciding game is needed, it will be played Easter Sunday evening in Antigonish.
