Colts looking to tie series Saturday evening

The Capstone Colts knew it was essentially do or die heading into the third game of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Championship Series Friday night in Antigonish.  The Colts lost the opening two games of the series last weekend and knew a win was paramount.

Knowing and doing are sometimes two different aspects to a game but the Colts came out hungry against the three-time defending Provincial Champions with Jacob Train-Willis scoring a first period goal followed up by goals from Owen O’Donnell and James Rota to give the Colts a 3-0 lead before the Bulldogs could score their first of the game by Cameron Bell with under five minutes to play in the second period.  The goal by the Colts Rota, a 6’3 205 pound individual was his first of the playoffs in ten games for the Colts after playing only 6 regular season games for the Colts.

In the third period, Rota was serving a high-sticking penalty when teammate Cooper Puma scored his fifth of the playoffs to go along with 15 assists, after delivering 47 points for the Colts in the regular season.  Cody Garcin finished the Colts offence as he scored with 32 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Colts a 5-1 win.

Conar Brace turned away 27 of 28 shots for the Colts while Adam Tkacz was a little busier stopping 36 of 41 shots in the Bulldog nets.  Game 4 in this series goes back to the C.F.B. Shearwater Forum Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with the Colts now only a win away from tying the series at 2-2.
