Colts hoping to advance
The Capstone Colts after falling behind 2-0 in their Fox Divisional Final with the South Shore Lumberjacks have now rallied to win three straight and looking for a series win in Bridgewater Saturday night.
Friday night in Shearwater, a game that turned nasty in the third period, the Colts jumped in front 4-0 before the second period was five minutes old and went on for a 6-2 win despite being outshot by the Lumberjacks 36-24.
The opening goal of the game was a short-handed effort from Cooper Puma who would go on and add two assists. Riley Henman made it 2-0 Colts before the first period concluded.
In the second, the Colts were not finished as Liam Andrews continued with his torrid scoring spree throughout this year’s playoffs scoring 4:08 into the middle frame. 26 seconds later the Colts were up 4-0 when Jacob Trioni-Willis scored the first of his two goals in the game. Evan Amirault from the South Shore and Nik Xidos then traded goals to give the Colts a 5-1 leads before Joe Osborne’s short-handed goal with only 55 seconds showing on the clock put the Colts up 5-2 entering the third.
Jacob Troini-Willis’s power-play goal in the third provided the Colts with their 6th and final goal of the evening and giving them a 3-2 lead in the Best-of-Seven Division Final.
The third period turned nasty as five fighting majors were handed out along with 7 game misconducts, a gross misconduct, 7 minors and a double minor for spearing for a total of 123 penalty minutes in the third. Of those 123, Ethan MacVicar of the Lumberjacks collected 41, while Lumberjack teammates Brandon Rideout collected 19 and Joe Osborne 15. Jack Dulong of the Colts collected 29 while teammate James Rota received 19.
As for net minding Conar Brace stopped 31 of 36 shots in the Colts net while Keegan Greencorn struggled in the Lumberjacks net leaving after allowing 4 goals on 10 shots in 25 minutes. He was replaced by Zach MacInnis for the final 36 minutes as he stopped 12 of 14 shots.
Game 6 reverts back to Bridgewater Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with the Colts hoping for a series clinching win.
