One team can clinch their opening round series this week while in another series, game 3 was finally played after an 8 day delay.  The following is a recap of playoff action Sunday night in the NSJHL.

Antigonish   5     Port Hawkesbury   1

The Bulldogs with another win at home Wednesday night will advance to the Sid Rowe Divisional Final against the winner of the Pictou-Membertou series.  The Bulldogs aiming for their fourth consecutive Provincial Junior Hockey Championship upended the Strait Pirates 5-1 Sunday evening in the Strait to take a 3-1 stranglehold lead in their Best-of-Seven Divisional Semi-Final.

Will Normandeau put Antigonish up 1-0 with 32 seconds left in the first period and then 50 seconds into the second period Brodie MacDonald made it 2-0 Bulldogs and that is the way the score stood entering the third period.

Brody MacPherson made it 3-0 Bulldogs 2:19 into the third before Noah Harrison finally put the Strait on the scoresheet.  The Bulldogs Will MacKinnon and then Zachary Stewart into an empty net concluded the game’s scoring and gave Antigonish a 5-1 win and a 3-1 series lead with Game 5 Wednesday night in Antigonish at 7:30 p.m.  Logan McGrath and Daniel Chiasson both collected a pair of assists in the game for the Bulldogs while Normandeau and MacDonald both had an assist to go along with their goals. The game was penalty free through 40 minutes but tensions flared in the third when 68 penalty minutes were assessed that involved 4 minors, 3 misconducts, 2 game misconducts and 2 fighting majors.

Playing for the first time in eight days, the Scotians had little difficulty with the Jr. Miners in Trenton Sunday evening winning 6-1 and going up 2-1 in their series.
