24-25 Regular Season now complete

The 2024-25 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Regular Season Schedule is now completed after two previously postponed games because of weather were played in Antigonish and Bridgewater Tuesday evening. The following is a recap:

 
South Shore   5      Brookfield  4  (Sudden-Death OT)
 
What has plagued the Brookfield Elks in numerous games this season, was at play in their regular season finale against the South Shore Lumberjacks.  It is being able to hold a lead as once again the Elks jumped in front 2-1 and 4-2 after the opening two periods but allowed the Lumberjacks to tie the game at 4-4 before winning it on a goal from Cohen Westlake mid-way through the five minute sudden-death overtime period.  The Elks even began the overtime on the power-play as the Lumberjacks Joe Osborne had 1:11 left in his minor for interference with a goaltender but the Elks could not take advantage.  It marked the fourth sudden-death overtime loss of the season for Brookfield as they finished with a 4-22-4 regular season record for 12 points and last place in the Fred Fox Division.
 
Duggan Gauthier scored once in the first period and once again in the second for the Elks while Jack Piper and Jackson Spraggon who finished off a dynamite season for the Elks scored single markers for the losers.
 
For the Lumberjacks who will open their Best-of-Seven Divisional Semi-Final with East Hants Friday night in Lantz, Joe Osborne scored in the first and Angus Berry tied the game at 2-2 in the second before Chase Crouse and Daniel Kline scored unanswered goals in the third to tie the game at 4-4 and send the contest to sudden-death overtime.  Koen Shand, an affiliated player dressed by the Lumberjacks for Tuesday’s game collected assists on four of the five Lumberjack goals.  South Shore finished with a 14-13-3 record for 31 points and fourth place in the Fred Fox Division.

The Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs preparing to go after their fourth consecutive Nova Scotia Provincial Junior Championship showed no mercy on the Membertou Jr. Miners Tuesday night at home thrashing the Jr. Miners 10-2, taking period leads of 2-0 and 7-2 and never relenting.
 
Cohen Pictou, Tully Grant and Owen Forsythe all scored a pair of goals for the Bulldogs while singles went to Ethan Twolan, Zachary Lorette, Will Normandeau and Max Baldwin completed the Antigonish scoring.  Trey Sturge and Tyler Seymour tallied for the Jr. Eagles.  Antigonish outshot the Jr. Miners 45-26.
 
Membertou travels to Trenton Thursday night for their opening game of their Best-of-Seven Rowe Divisional Semi-Final with the Pictou County Scotians while Antigonish will wait until Friday evening and open their semi-final series with the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates at home.
