James - NSJHL Player of the Month for January
It has not happened this season until this week when goaltender Eli James of the Pictou County Scotians was been named the NS Egg Farmers Player of the Month in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League for his consistent play throughout January. Each week three stars from each division are named and awarded five, three and one point respectively for their efforts in that given week.
Over the month of January, Eli James of the Pictou County Scotians while not placing first in any given week, did place second three tims and third once over the span of four weeks earning him 10 points and NS Egg Farmers player of the month for the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
Eli recorded two shut-outs in four games while stopping 134 of 136 shots. The two shut-outs were 2-0 over Eskasoni Jan 25 and 1-0 over Membertou in which he turned away all 66 shots he faced in the two games. In two other gams he allowed a single goal apiece when the Scotians recorded two wins over Port Hawkesbury by scores of 2-1 and 3-1. James will receive five dozen eggs from Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia for winning player of the month honours.
Matt Carson of the Scotians finished with 8 points and second place in player of the month standings.
