NS Egg Farmers Players of the Week named

NS Egg Farmers NSJHL Players of the Week

 
 
Lane Lochead of the Pictou County Scotians and Owen MacDermid of the Valley Maple Leafs were named Nova Scotia Egg Farmers Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Players of the Week on Wednesday.  We will look at the Sid Rowe Division First:
 
Rowe Division:
 
1.   Lane Lochead played an exceptional role for the Scotians in their two wins over Port Hawkesbury and Eskasoni this past Friday and Sunday.  Lochead earned his two dozen eggs by scoring once and adding an assist in the Scotians 5-2 victory over the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates Friday evening in the Strait.  Then on Sunday, Lochead played a heads-up game throughout collecting four assists in the Scotians 4-3 sudden-death overtime win over the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles.
 
2.   There was a tie for second place in player of the week honours as Matt Carson and Keagan Geizer both netted three points which will assist them in the player of the month award to be named after games this weekend.  Carson scored three times and added an assist in the Scotians 4-3 OT win Sunday over the Eagles while Geizer scored a pair of goals in the Jr. Eagles 4-2 win over the Valley Maple Leafs Friday night in Windsor and scored one more in the Eagles loss to the Scotians Sunday.
 
3.    Eli James earned one point as he stopped 74 of 79 shots in the two Scotian wins and played very well as Pictou improved their regular season record to 9-4-3 and now trail first place Antigonish by 7 points with a game in hand.
 
 
Fox Division:
 
1.   Owen MacDermid after struggling for a few games even as the Leafs put together a turn-around season made up for it this week as he scored 2 goals and added an assist in the Leafs stunning 3-0 comeback over the Sackville Blazers Monday evening to win 4-3.  He also recorded a pair of assists and played a song game despite the Leafs first loss in awhile 4-2 to Eskasoni Friday night at home in Windsor.  MacDermid takes home two dozen eggs from Nova Scotia Egg Farmers for being named player of the week in the Fred Fox Division.
 
2.   Jacob Gerhardt played tenacious hockey in the Lads win and loss.  He scored twice in the opening five minutes of the third to tie Monday’s game in Sackville 3-3 before MacDermid’s game winner.  He also recorded an assist.  He also played strong in a losing effort while collecting an assist in Friday’s 4-2 loss to the Jr. Eagles.  Gerhardt earned 3 points toward potentially earning player of the month award for the League.
 
3.    Jackson Spraggon played strong hockey for the Brookfield Elks as he recorded 4 assists in the Elks 5-2 upset over the Sackville Blazers at home in Brookfield Saturday afternoon.  Spraggon earns one point toward potential player of the month honors.
