Scotians win in OT

Matt Carson scored all of the Pictou County Scotian goals in regulation and then assisted on the overtime winner by Drew MacKinnon only 19 seconds into the extra period as the Scotians defeated the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles 4-3 Sunday evening in Eskasoni.  The first period was scoreless and the second period was only 22 seconds old when Noah MacKinnon put the Jr. Eagles ahead 1-0 but Carson scored a pair in a span of 2:04 later on in the second to give the Scotians a 2-1 lead after two periods.  Aidan Stanwick tied the game at 2-2 for the Eagles but a mere 1:22 later Carson scored his third of the game on the power-play and the Scotians led 3-2.  With only 6:56 remaining and Pictou attempting to kill off a penalty, Keigan Geizer scored for Eskasoni to knot the game at 3-3 and force overtime.  It was in OT when Drew MacKinnon took a pass from Carson to give the Scotians their 4-3 win and improve their record to 9-4-3 for 21 points.  Lane Lochead assisted on all four Scotian goals while Cale MacLaughlin picked up three assists for Pictou.  The Jr. Eagles outshot the Scotians 44-43 with Eli James earning the win in goal stopping 41 of 44 shots and Darian McInnis stopped 39 of 43 for Eskasoni.

Will MacKinnon scored a short-handed goal and a power-play goal to pace Antigonish to a 4-0 shut-out win over Port Hawkesbury Sunday night in Antigonish.  Kellen Fuller also scored a power-play goal for the Bulldogs and Zachary Lorette netted the other Antigonish goal as the Bulldogs earned their 14th win in 17 games this season.  Tully Grant recorded a pair of assists for Antigonish.  Ethan Chisholm recorded the shutout for the winners while Manny Strong played well for the Strait Pirates in nets stopping 39 of 43 shots.
