Penguins remain undefeated
It is not even the end of October and hockey experts in Nova Scotia will tell you anything can happen between now and playoff time at the end of February. However, if early indications are the least bit significant, it appears the East Hants Penguins and Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs are well on their to a battle for the Nova Scotia Junior League Championship.
East Hants Bitar’s Ristorante’ Penguins 4 Pictou County Scotians 2
The Penguins just keep rolling with no sign of a slow down imminent. They doubled up the Pictou County Scotians Sunday night in Trenton 4-2 taking period leads of 2-0 and 3-2. Hayden Tamm struck first for the 11-0-0 Penguins when he scored on the power-play and then Jayson Hanson made it 2-0. East Hants widened their lead to 3-0 as Alex Field continued his torrid scoring with his 6th goal in his past 4 games. Drew Williams and Wyatt Spence then narrowed the Pens lead to 3-2 but it was as close as they could get as Devin Meagher scored an empty-netter to give the Pens a 4-2 verdict. Finley Diab connected for a couple of assists for the Pens as well.
Antigonish 6 Eskasoni 2
The Bulldogs are almost perfect but are at 11-1-0 after their 6-2 thumping of the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles. Five goals were scored in the first period, three by the Bulldogs with Andrew Murray, Will McKinnon and Kellen Fuller connecting while Jacob Wolodka and Keagan Corbett connected for the Jr. Eagles who fell to 3-7-0. Wolodka and Corbett also assisted on each other’s goals. The Bulldogs would then add three more as Ethan Twolan and Matthew Bercovici tallied in the second and Daniel Chaisson rounded out the game’s scoring in the third to give the Bulldogs their 6-2 win. Jake Prince and Will Normandeau both chipped in with a pair of assists for Antigonish.
