Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia award winners Oct 18-22
With illness including two hospital stays having sidelined this writer overt the past week, it is time to catch up. Despite the illness, this writers has been keeping a keen eye on all games in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. To begin playing catch-up, it is time to name the Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia players of the week covering Oct 18-22. First off we will examine the Rowe Division:
1. Owen Forsythe - Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs - earns player of the week for collecting 6 assists in three wins by the Bulldogs over the Pictou County Scotians, the Capstone Colts and the Membertou Jr. Miners by scores of tigonish4-0, 3-2 over the Colts and 8-3 over the Jr. Miners. Owen earns two dozen eggs from the Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia for his hard work and playmaking abilities.
2. Ryan MacDonald - Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs placed second after his strong performance against the Scotians when he stopped 42 shots and recorded a shut-out in the Jr. Bulldogs 4-0 win.
3. Owen Westhaver - While playing nets for the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates, he did not record a win but played prominently on the road against the Sackville Blazers stopping 38 of 41 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Sackville Blazers.
Fred Fox Division:
1. Alex Field — East Hants Penguins - captured player of the week honours for his 4 goals and an assist in the team’s two Cape Breton wins in Membertou and Port Hawkesbury. He earns 2 dozen eggs from the Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia for his efforts.
2. Liam Andrews — Capstone Colts - placed 2nd in player of the week honours after scoring twice including the shoot-out winner in the Colts 4-3 triumph over the Pictou County Scotians in Trenton on Oct 20. He also recorded an assist in the Colts 3-2 loss to Antigonish at home on Oct 18th.
3. Chris Caissie - placed third for his 4 assist effort in the Penguins two road wins in Cape Breton by scores of 6-4 over the Jr. Miners and 6-2 over the Strait Pirates.
