Pirates continue inconsistent play

The Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates continued their maddening inconsistent play in Trenton Sunday evening as they gave up four unanswered goals after tying the Pictou County Scotians 1-1, to lose 5-1.  Tis game less than 24 hours after the Strait Pirates played a solid game in Bridgewater and sidelined the South Shore Lumberjacks 5-1.  The loss now leaves with the Strait at 2-5-2 for 6 points and in a deadlock with Membertou and Eskasoni for the final two playoff positions in the Sid Rowe Division.  The Scotians improved to 4-1-1 for nine points.

As for the game,  Joseph Mason put Pictou County up 1-0 after the opening period.  Keir Jordan tied it for the Strait 31 seconds into the second period before the Scotians Lane Lochead connected for three consecutive goals for a natural hat-trick to put the Scotians ahead 4-1 after forty minutes.  It now gives five goals and five assists on the season. The only goal in the third period came of the stick of the Scotians Ryan Frizzle.  Matt Carson added his 5th and 6th assists of the season and Wyatt Spence recorded his 5th, 6th and 7th assists of the season for the Scotians.  Pictou outshot the Strait 25-21.

The schedule doesn’t become any easier for the Strait as their next game is this Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at the Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury against the 7-0-0 East Hants Penguins while the Scotians are off until next Sunday as well when they will entertain the 4-2-0 Capstone Colts.
