Game 6 in Lantz Monday

It is a rare happening in playoff hockey but on occasion, the wheels are turned upside down and a team rallies from a 3-0 deficit in a Best-of-Seven series to win four straight.  The South Shore Lumberjacks have not reached that pinnacle as of yet, but they are in the process now of trying after defeating the East Hants Penguins in Bridgewater Saturday night 3-1.  The teams played a scoreless first period before the Lumberjacks struck for a pair in the second period from the sticks of Alec Howie and Camden Pellerine.  Devin Meagher brought the Penguins back to within one before the third period was four minutes old but that was all the Pens could do as Joe Osborne added an insurance marker for the Lumberjacks.  The Lumberjacks outshot the Pens 35-30 with the Pens pulling goalie Marcus Pettipas for the final 1:44 to no avail.  Keegan Greencorn turned away 34 of 35 shots in the South Shore nets.

The teams now go back to Lantz Monday night for Game 6 in what will be an 8:30 start.  A win by the Pens would end the series and send them to the Fred Fox Divisional Final against the Capstone Colts.  A Lumberjacks win will force a seventh and deciding game back in Bridgewater Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile…only one other first round series remains to be decided and that could happen Sunday evening in Trenton at 6:00 p.m. as the Pictou County Scotians look to stave off elimination when they host Antigonish in Game 4 of their Sid Rowe Divisional Semi-Final.  The Jr. Bulldogs currently lead the series 3-0 and with a win would then play the Membertou Jr. Miners in the Sid Rowe Divisional Final.  If the Scotians force a fifth game, the series would return to Antigonish for a 7:30 start Monday night.
