Lake scores a pair for East Hants
A pair of teams went up 2–0 in their Divisional Semi-Finals Sunday night in NSJHL Playoffs. The following is a recap:
East Hants Penguins 3 South Shore Lumberjacks 1
The Lumberjacks head back home to Bridgewater for Game 3 trying to figure out a team they defeated four times during the regular season while outscoring them 20-10. Sunday night in Lantz, the Penguins after winning 5-1 in Game 1 Friday in Bridgewater, took Game 2, 3-1 on a pair of goals from Morgan Lake 1:33 apart in the first period before the game was five minutes old. John Shubaly scored the Lumberjacks lone goal in the first. There was no more scoring until Logan Durno scored the game’s final goal 2:49 into the third period. South Shore played with an empty net for the final 1:27 but could not beat Marcus Pettipas in the Pens net who stopped 30 of 31 shots. Keegan Greencorn stopped 43 of the 46 Pens shots he faced. Game 3 is Wednesday night in Bridgewater at 7:30 p.m.
Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs 8 Pictou County Scotians 0
Ethan Twolan scored twice and added a pair of assists for four points as the Jr. Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in their series with the Scotians by routing Pictou 8-0. The Jr. Bulldogs took period leads of 3–0 and 6-0 and wrapped it up with two more in the final period. Bradley Armstrong also scored twice for Antigonish with one being a short-handed marker. Cameron Bell also scored a short-handed goal while Will Fitzsimmons scored a power-play goal. Logan McGrath who also recorded two assists and Zachary Lorette were the other Bulldog scorers. Jack Cameron was pulled from the Scotians net after allowing five goals on sixteen shots, Eli James then replaced him and allowed three goals on twenty three shots as Antigonish outshot Pictou 39-25. Adam Tkacz recorded his fifth shut-out of the season for Antigonish. The Scotians will do their utmost and attempt from falling behind 3-0 in this Best-of-Seven Sid Rowe Divisional Semi-Final as they travel to Antigonish for a 7:30 Monday start.
The other Monday night game will see the Capstone Colts try and move ahead of the Sackville Blazers 3-0 in their series as they play the Blazers in Sackville at 7:30. The Colts scored a pair of 5-3 wins in the opening two games of the series.
