It was a see-saw affair all evening long between the Sackville Blazers and East Hants Penguins Friday night in one of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League regular season openers in Lantz.  The Pens scored with 58 seconds left in regulation on a goal from Noah Comeau to send the game to OT.  It then took Hayden Tamm only 3:09 to score the overtime for East Hants and give the Pens a 5-4 win.  The teams were tied 2-2 after one period, the Penguins led 3-2 after forty minutes and the Blazers outscored East Hants 2-1 in the third period to force overtime.
Jayson Hanson and Morgan Lake scored in the first period for the Penguins while Stephen Purdy and Logan Mitchell scored for the Blazers.  Logan Durno put the Penguins ahead 3-2 after forty minutes while adding two assists for his team.  Ryan McIntyre and Degen Noble put the Blazers up 4-3 with under six minutes to play before Comeaus tying goal in the final minute.  Ben Etsell stopped 28 of the 33 shots he faced while Marcus Pettipas stopped  26 of 30 shots.

The Colts who were terrific last season in  shutting-out teams started off the 23-24 campaign with another one as Joshua McCarter stopped all 24 shots he faced in leading the Colts to their 3-0 win.  Benjamin Veiont scored in the first period and Cody Garcin scored twice in the second to give the Colts added insurance in their win.  Pablo Larrinaga stopped 27 of 30 shots.  The Colts will be looking to win the Fred Fox Division championship again this season and hopefully advance to the League Championship series in which they lost to Antigonish last spring.
