Colts and Jr. Bulldogs advance with shut-outs

Alec MacVicar continued his superlative goaltending Friday night at home as he led the Capstone Colts to a series clinching 4-0 victory over the Sackville Blazers at the C.F.B. Shearwater Arena.  It was MacVicar’s third shut-out in five games as the Colts won Best-of Seven Semi-Final 4-1.  MacVicar turned away 33 shots as the Colts outshot the Blazers 49-33.  Benjamin Veinot and Colin Goodwin put the Colts up 2-0 after the opening period and Tyler Puma made it 3-0 after two periods.  Brayden Hooper-Richard scored the Colts fourth goal in the final period.  The Colts now await the winner of the East Hants-Liverpool Series which will see Games 4 nd 5 played this weekend.  Game 4 tonight in Liverpool at 7:00 p.m. and Game 5 Sunday night at 7:45 in Lantz with the Privateers currently leading the series two games to one.

 
 
Colin MacEachern also registered a shut-out for the Antigonish AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs as they swept the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates four straight in winning Game 4 in the Strait Friday evening 4-0.  Will Fitzsimmons scored his fifth and sixth goals in the series, each coming in the second period and squeezed between another goal by Darren Waterman.  Zachary Lorette scored the fourth and final goal for the Jr. Bulldogs who are now awaiting the Eskasoni-Pictou winner to play in the Sid Rowe Divisional Final. The Jr. Eagles are up 3-1 with Game 5 in Eskasoni Saturday night at 7:30 and if necessary Game 6 back in Trenton Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.
