Privateers back to over .500

Everyone likes good ole playoff races to the end with the possible exceptions of team executives, coaches and general managers.  Executives from at least three teams anyway in the Fred Fox Division who no doubt are likely keeping a steady shipment of tums coming into their local pharmacies for heartburn.  Those teams are the Sackville Blazers, the Liverpool Privateers and the Brookfield Elks.  The 3 teams are separated by two points in the battle for the final two playoff spots in the Fox Division after the Privateers doubled up the Blazers in Sackville 4-2 Monday night.  It put the Privateers in third with a record of 10-9-2 and the Blazers in fourth at 10-12-2 and the Elks in fifth place at 9-9-2.

Sackville scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the opening period Monday to go up 2-0 as Zachary Jenkins and Ryan MacDonald tallied before Devon MacDonald pulled Liverpool to within one goal when he scored 1:06 after MacDonald. Carson Gallant and Dylan Patterson both scored in the second with each also collecting an assist.  That was all the scoring until John Shubaly’s empty-net marker with only 21 seconds to play.  Aidan Durnford turned away 40 of the 42 shots he faced in the Privateers net with Liverpool outshooting the Sackville 43-42.

The win gave the Privateers their second win in three nights over Sackville and also the season as they won 4 of the 6 games while outscoring the Blazers 25-20 in the six regular season games.
