The win leaves the Lumberjacks still undefeated at a 6-0-0 for 12 points while the Pens fell to 7-1-1 for 15 points and still atop the Fred Fox Division. The teams played a scoreless first period and Chris Brill gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead after forty minutes.  Then with only 3:22 left in regulation Marcus Tench tied it for the Lumberjacks to send it into sudden-death overtime.

With 1:29 left in sudden-death, Kyle MacIntyre scored on the power-play as the Pens Nick Morin was off serving a slashing penalty.  Despite the goal by the Penguins in the second period, they did it while serving five minor penalties with the Lumberjacks being assessed no penalties in the second.

The Jr, Miners were certainly a different team Saturday night when they played host to the Scotians and recorded their first win of the season after starting the season 0-8-0, 4-3 over the Scotians.  Tyler Seymour played an effective game for the Jr, Miners scoring twice and adding an assist while Rhyland Hanrahan scored once and also added an assist.  Ty Oliver’s short-handed effort was the fourth goal in the evening.  Seymour’s 2nd goal of the game was proved to be the game winner and the only goal scored in the third period.  The Scotians outshot the Jr. Miners 34-28.  Scoring for the Scotians were  the gifted Lane Lochead who also added an assist, John-Kay Martin and Owen Hickey who also added an assist.
