Lumberjacks now 15-2-0....to play Colts Friday

The South Shore Lumberjacks put themselves in an ideal position to head into the Christmas break at least tied for first place in the Fred Fox Division of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, narrowly getting by the Sackville Blazers 3-2 Monday night on the road.

The Lumberjacks and Blazers traded goals 1:21 apart in the first with Jaxson Welsh tallying fir the winners and James Cameron for the Blazers.

In the second, only one goal was scored and it came off the stick of Cohen Westlake of the Lumberjacks.

In the third, the two teams traded goals as Brandon Rideout who also added an assist scored for the Lumberjacks while Xavier Rivard continued his hot play for the Blazers with a goal, giving him five in his past five games.  The Lumberjacks outshot the Blazers 48-44.

The Lumberjacks can move into a first place tie with the Colts if they can win Friday evening in Shearwater against the Colts who they presently trail by two points in the division standings.  The Colts are 16-3-0 while the Lumberjacks are 15-2-0.  A win could mean they could share first for less than 24 hours as the Colts travel to Brookfield for a 4:00 p.m. game Saturday afternoon.  Three other games will conclude the pre-Christmas break of the 25-26 NSJHL Regular season with plenty to be decided beginning again January 3.  The other three games this weekend will see the Jr. Miners play Windsor in Windsor Friday at 7:30 before the Jr. Miners go back home for a game with Eskasoni Saturday evening before travelling to Eskasoni Sunday afternoon.

The Post-Christmas schedule starts Saturday Jan 3rd in Bridgewater when Eskasoni arrives to play the Lumberjacks in a 3:00 p.m. start.
