Eskasoni-South Shore set to being the 26 portion of the 25-26 NSJHL Regular Season

With New Year’s Eve nearly upon us, this can only mean the the start of the 2026 portion of the 25-26 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Season.

 
There is only one game scheduled for this weekend providing inclement weather does not enter into the picture and that is 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Bridgewater between two teams doing everything humanely possible to finish first in their respective divisions.
 
The game will feature the 13-7-0 Eskasoni Jr. Eagles against the 15-3-0 South Shore Lumberjacks.  The Eagles presently lead the Pictou County Scotians by two points in the chase for first in the Sid Rowe Division while the Lumberjacks with still three games in hand trail the Capstone Colts by 6 points for first place in the Fred Fox Division.
 
The two number 1 Goaltenders for Eskasoni and South Shore are playing a huge role in their respective team’s success in 25-26 as the Lumberjacks Keegan Greencorn holds a record of 14-3-0 for a 2.80 goals against average and a .922 save percentage while Andrew Burke of the Jr. Eagles has been in net for 8 of the 13 wins by Eskasoni for a record of 8-1-0 with a 3.32 Goals Against Average and a .901 save percentage.
 
The Lumberjacks and Eskasoni who are meeting for the first time since the third week of the October in 2024 certainly have some offence they can show with the Lumberjacks holding a slightly larger advantage.  Kyle MacIntyre pacers the South Shore with 13 goalsand 14 assists for 27 points with Owen MacDermid right behind him with 7 goals and 17 assists for 24 points.  Brennan Coleman is the top goal scorer for the South Shore with 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points with Leo MacLean occupying fifth place in team scoring scoring eight times and collecting 14 assists for 22 points.
 
Game time once again is Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Bridgewater.
 
As for the League Scoring Race, it is going to be difficult to catch the leading scorer Lane Lochead of the Pictou County who is a one man offesne for the Scotians having notched 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points.  Liam Andrews of the Capstone Colts is 2nd in league scoring having scored 20 goals and recording 19 assists for 39, 12 back of Lochead.  In third place is Cody Garcin of the Colts who has netted 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points. Chris Caissie of East Hants holds down fourth place with 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points while rounding ou the top 5 is Camden MacKenzie of the Colts with 8 goals and 23 assists for 31 points.
 
The Colts presently have the top goaltending duo with Carter Aguirre being 11-1-0 with a GAA of 2.75 and a .915 save percentage and Zachary MacInnis being 7-2-0 for 2.54 goals against average and .925 save percentage.
