Jr. Eagles lose first of season...Lochead 4 points in Pictou win

The Capstone Colts arrived in Eskasoni Sunday afternoon showing they were there for business only and that work ethic carried the Colts to a 9-0 whitewashing of the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles, the Eagles first loss of the regular season after opening the season with six consecutive wins.  The Colts meanwhile are now 3-2-0 of six points.  Cody Garcin and Matthew Walker both scored twice for the Colts with Garcin also adding an assist.  Xavier Coggins scored one and added a pair of assists for the Scotians.  Other Colt goals were registered by Cole Robataille, Jacob Train-Willis, Connor MacPhee who has 11 points on the season and holds down fifth place in the league scoring race and Jack Dulong.  Carter Aguirre registered the shut-out for the Colts stopping the 22 shots he faced while the Colts had 44 on the Eskasoni net.  The Colts had period leads of 2-0 and 6-0.  The Jr. Eagles despite their loss remain 6 points ahead of the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates in the race for first place in the Sid Rowe Division.  Elsewhere Sunday:

In Pictou, the County Scotians recorded their second consecutive win after four straight losses to open the season as they tripled the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs 6-2.  Lane Lochead continues to rack up the points for the Scotians as he scored twice and collected a pair of assists to now give him 6 goals and 13 assists on the season as he opened up a 6 point lead over Will Cook of the Lumberjacks and Landon MacIntosh of the Strait Pirates.  Other Scotian goals Sunday evening were scored by Wyatt Spence, Cadyn Burgess, Nate Supryka and Sam Maddison.  Eli James stopped 31 of 33 shots he faced in the Scotian nets.  Antigonish took a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Lucy Legere and Will McKinnon before the Scotians scored the next six.  The Scotians will be back in action mid-week when they travel to play the East Hants Penguins in Lantz Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
