Eskasoni now 5-0-0......Scotians blow-out Jr. Miners

The Eskasoni Jr. Eagles continue to soar very high in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey Play as they won their 5th consecutive of the 25-26 NSJHL Season 4-2 at home Sunday evening over the now 2-3-0 Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates.  Despite outshooting the Strait 46-19 and the Pirates receiving stellar goaltending from Thomas Gariepy, Port Hawkesbury led the game 2-1 until only 6:45 remained in regulation.  Then in a span of 3:25, the Jr. Eagles scored three times with the puck coming off the sticks of Keegan O’Neill on the power-play, Noah MacKinnon just 51 seconds later and then Kendrick Marshall tallied the final Jr. Eagles goal with only 3:25 remaining in the third.  Josh Gillis and Kyle Nearing handled the scoring for the Pirates with both of those goals coming in the first period.

Elsewhere Sunday evening…. the Jr. Miners who were humbled at home Saturday 7-1 by Antigonish took another trampling in Pictou as they were mauled 12-1 by the County Scotians.  Wyatt Spence and Lane Lochead played a huge role offensively for the home team as Lochead scored twice and assisted on five other markers while Wyatt Spence scored four times and also added an assist.  Luc Prineau, Nate Supryka and Owen Hickey rounded out the Scotians scoring as they all notched two goals. Sam Maddison notched four assists for the winners..  Keagan Corbett scored the lone marker for the Jr. Miners who find themselves looking for that elusive first win of the season as they now have a record of 0-5-0.  The Scotians will be back in action when they host Antigonish Sunday, Oct 5th at 5:30 p.m. at the Pictou County Health and Wellness Bell Aliant Centre.
