Elks down Blazers in Sackville

Brookfield Elks Head Coach Phil Lynds was confident about the re-building project accomplished with the team during the summer and to date during the 2025-26 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season, it appears to be paying in spades.

Monday evening in Sackville, the Elks skated themselves to a 2-0 lead, went up 3-0 before eventually exchanging goals with the Sackville Blazers for a 4-1 Elks win.  The victory improved the Elks ro 2-1-0 in the Fred Fox Division and tied with the East Hants Penguins, 2nd to the 3-0-0 South Shore Lumberjacks,

Jackson Spraggon and Will Stewart put the Elks up 2-0 after twenty minutes before Cale McClellan’s power-play goal for the Elks made it 3-0 after forty minutes.

In the third, Dawson LaPlante brought the Blazers back to within a pair of goals before Mitchell King scored the game’s final goal for the Elks and made the final 4-1.  Sackville did outshoot the Elks 52-36 and Cole Echlin played a strong role in the nets for the Elks stopping 51 of 52 shots.  Ben Stewart collected a pair of assists for the Elks.

Brookfield stays on the road and will visit Windsor Friday evening at 7:30 for an encounter with the 0-0-2 Windsor Oxen at 7:30 p.m.
