Strait Pirates bounce back to win their first of the year
Landon MacIntosh took no time to score his third goal of the season in two games, as he connected on a penalty shot 1:18 into the opening period to put the Strait up 1-0 Saturday evening in the Jr. Miners' home opener.

It was a close game throughout with the Strait eventually coming up with a 5-4 win after outscoring the Jr. Miners 3-1 in the opening period before the Miners outscored the Strait 3-2 in the second.  There was no third-period scoring.

Carlin Samson made it 2-0 Strait before Landon Clark’s goal for the Jr. Miners made it 2-1.  Craig Saulnier scored the final goal of the first period when he put the Strait up 3-1.

In the second period, the Jr. Miners bounced back and tied the game at 3-3 on markers from Cohn McNeil and Landon Clark’s second of the game.  Henry Dougan’s power-play marker 44 seconds after the Jr. Miners tied it up, put the Strait up again 4-3 but Brady Matheson’s goal tied the game, this time at 4-4 with 5:05 left in the middle frame.  The Strait Pirates notched the game winner with 21 seconds to play in the second as Cadyn Power scored the game winner for the Pirates to give them their 5-4 win.  The two teams played a scoreless third period.
