The Pictou County Scotians were originally to have played two games this weekend in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.  However, League Officials confirmed late yesterday that the Scotians game with the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles scheduled for Sunday afternoon has now been moved ahead to Saturday Jan 17th at 4:00 p.m. in Eskasoni instead of 7:30 p.m. this Sunday in Eskasoni.

 
What that means is that the Scotians will still have an opportunity to take sole position of first place in the Sid Rowe Division tonight if they can beat the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs in a 7:30 start in Antigonish.  Eskasoni will be now be idle this weekend.  The Jr. Eagles are presently 11-7-0 for 22 points while the Scotians are 11-9-0 for 22 points.
 
Pictou is second in the league in goals scored this winter with 95 in 20 games for an average of 4.7 a game while Eskasoni is tied with Antigonish with 70 goals scored.  Antigonish on average has netted 4.1 while Eskasoni has played one less game than the Jr. Bulldogs and are averaging 4.1 goals a game.
 
When it comes to defence, the Bulldogs have the best mark in the Sid Rowe Division having allowed 70 or 3.2 goals a game.  Eskasoni is right behind having allowed 70 in 18 games or 4.1 a game.  As for the Scotians, they have allowed 79 for an average of  3.9 a game.
 
The remainder of the Rowe Division shapes up like this with Port Hawkesbury continuing to struggle at 6-11-1 and only scoring 59 goals or an average of 3.2 a game while allowing 97 or 5.3 per contest. The Membertou Jr. Eagles while surprising teams at times are 4-14-1 and while scoring 72 goals or 3.8 a game have been killed defensively having allowed 111 goals or 5.8 a game
 
As for special teams, the Jr. Scotians remain with the best record for penalty killing efficiency as they have held teams off the scoreboard 87% of the time while playing short-handed.  They are followed by Antigonish with 84% efficiency and then Eskasoni at 79%, the Jr. Miners at 76% and Port Hawkesbury at 68%.
 
As for the power-play, the Scotians are ranked third scoring 25% of the time while on the power-play.  They are followed by Antigonish at 22%, Eskasoni at 21%, the Jr. Miners at 18% and the Strait Pirates have managed to score only 11% of the time while on the power-play.
