Oxen lose 5th straight

The Windsor Oxen began the 2025-26 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey Regular Season with a 3-1-2 record but since their Oct 15th drubbing of the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates in Windsor 7-0, they have fallen flat, having now lost their past five games in a row to fall to 3-6-2, only 2 points ahead of the Brookfield Elks and Sackville Blazers who are tied for last place in the Fred Fox Division.

Monday night in Sackville, the Oxen had trouble moving any kind of weight as they were down 6-0 after only one period.  It did not get any better in the second as the Blazers led 8-3 after forty minutes before scoring one more goal in the third to win it 9-3.

Xavier Rivard had an explosive night for Sackville who improved to 3-9-0 as he scored a hat-trick and added a pair of assists.  Will Meek scored once and added a pair of assists.  Dylan Probert added a pair of goals for the Blazers while Adam Maillet, Tyler Curnew and James Cameron rounded out the scoring for the Blazers.

For the Oxen, Jacob Gerhardt, Cam Walsh and Matthew Shields all scored.  Amazingly enough for the Oxen, they outshot the Blazers 54-35 but had 51 shots turned away while Ryan LeBlanc played 50 minutes and 48 seconds for the Oxen allowing 7 of the nine goals before Graydon Mole played the final 9:12 and allowed two goals on four shots.

The Oxen are now off until they play the South Shore Lumberjacks in Bridgewater Remembrance Day afternoon at 2:00 p.m. while Sackville host Antigonish this monday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Sackville.
