Christmas Break now here....Eagles take over first in Rowe

The Christmas Break is now officially on for all teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League after the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles took hold of first place in the Sid Rowe Division with a 6-4 win over the Jr. Miners.  Eskasoni held leads trough the game except for a brief entrance when they were tied at 3-3 in the second.  The Jr. Eagles led 2-1, 5-3 and 6-4 being the final.

 
Noah MacKinnon scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season for the Jr. Eagles giving him 6 in his east eight games while Tyson LeFrense connected for his first two goals of the season.  Other Eagle goal scorers were Kendrick Marshall and Ryan Aucoin.
 
As for the Jr. Miners Brady Matheson connected for a pair with single goals registered by Cohen MacNeil and Ty Oliver.  For Oliver, he now has 8 gosls snd 14 assists in the Jr. Miners 21 games.  Marcellus Francis recorded four assists for the winners.  76 penalty minutes were called in the contest with 56 of them called in the third period that included 2 double minors for roughing and four misconducts. Eskasoni has now won all four of the games played between them and the Jr. Miners, outscoring the Miners 25-13 in the four games.  They have two left to play in the regular season Saturday, Jan 31st in Membertou at 7:30 and then Sunday February 15th in Eskasoni at 7:30 p.m.
 
Eskasoni outshot the Jr. Miners 52-33 and are now 13-7-0 for 26 points with a game in hand on the second place Pictou County Scotians who are at 12-9-0.  The defending Maritime Champions the Antigonish Bulldogs are 9-8-1 for 19 points.
 
Action will resume Saturday Jan 3rd in Bridgewater when Eskasoni visits the South Shore Lumberjacks in a 3:00 p.m. start.
