Colts now going into Christmas in first place...wild scoring affair in Windsor
The South Shore Lumberjacks will have to come back in 2026 to continue their fight for first place in the Fred Fox Division.  A win over the Cap Stone Colts on their home ice Friday night would have tied the Lumberjacks for first place, but despite a rally in the third place they could not score tying goal.

The Colts are in Brookfield Saturday afternoon and could stretch their lead to six points. The only saving grace for the Lumberjacks at this point of the season is that they will still hold 3 games in hand over the Colts.

Friday night in Shearwater, the Colts won their 17th game in 20 starts as Luke McPhee gave the Colts a 1-0 advantage after one period on the power-play.  Kyle MacIntyre tied it for the Lumberjacks at 1-1 before the Colts scored three times in the final 3:35 of the middle frame on a short-handed goal from Liam Andrews who also added an assist before Luke McPhee and Jacob Train-Willis scored power-play goals in the closing stages to put the Colts up 4-1 after two periods.

The Lumberjacks held the Colts scoreless in the third but unfortunately could only come up with a pair of goals from Leo MacLean and Nolan Wilkie to make the final 4-3.  Wilkie also added a pair of assists for the South Shore.  Camden McKenzie collected two assists for the winers.  The Colts outshot the South Shore 40-31.  The Lumberjacks are now 15-3-0 for 30 points and will now be idle until Saturday afternoon Jan 3rd when the 2nd place Eskasoni Jr. Eagles come to Bridgewater for a 3:00 p.m. start.

Windsor Oxen   9       Jr. Miners   6

In a true see-saw battle that saw the Oxen and Jr. Miners hustle until the end before the Oxen made there way out of the rink with a 9-6 verdict while improving their season’s record to 9-9-2 for 20 points, only 3 back of the third-place East Hants Penguins.

In the opening period Dylan Maning scored the first of his three goals giving him five in his last two games as he took over the team scoring lead with 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points.  Manning three goals came with goal n every period.  Tyler Seymour tied the game at 1-1 and finished the night just like Manning with three goals and 1 assist, giving him 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points as he maintained the team scoring lead.  Landon Clark who finished with a four point night made it 2-1 Jr. Miners before Reese Smith tied the game at 2.  Seymour came back with his second of the game to put the Jr. Miners ahead 3-2 but the Oxen roared back on Manning’s second goal before Cam Walsh put the Oxen ahead 4-3 only 56 seconds later.  Kayden Kuryluk then finished the scoring in the second period with a power-play marker 8:52 remaining.

If fans thought the offence might slow down in the third with theOxen holding down a 5-3 lead, they were wrong as the teams combined for seven goals in the final frame.  Cam Walsh scored his 10th of the season to give Windsor a 6-3 but Brady Doucette with a goal and two assists brought the Jr. Miners back to within a pair.  Manning then scored his third of the evening to give the Oxen a 7-4 advantage before Micah Tucker made it 8-4 Oxen.  Tucker took over the team scoring lead as he also added four assists to give him 18 on the season.  Landon Clark played a dynamite game for the Jr. Miners as he scored his second of the night to pull the Jr, Miners to within two goals at 8-6.  He also maintained his scoring lead on the team with 14 goals and 13 assists of 27 points.   The Seymour and Clark goals came 30 seconds apart in the final minute but Wilson Davison scored the game’s final goal with less than a minute to play and gave the Oxen their 9-6 win.
