Additional changes to weekend schedule

With ole man winter getting his grips on Nova Scotians this week, it has forced a change in games scheduled in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League this coming weekend.

Friday night’s game in Port Hawkesbury between East Hants and the Strait has been been postponed due to the closure of the causeway.  As a result, the Penguins who were to have played in Windsor against the Oxen next Friday evening will now travel to Windsor tonight for a 7:30 game.  The Oxen and East Hants have clashed twice this season with the Pens winning in Lantz 4-3 in sudden-death overtime and the Oxen winning also in Lantz 5-4.  This will mark the Penguins first visit to Windsor this season.  The Pens now find themselves in third place and trailing the Capstone Colts by seven points in the chase for first place in the Fox Division with a record of  11-5-1.  The Oxen with another huge win tonight could move to 8-9-2 with a victory and within five points of the Penguins for third place.

The Jr. Miners were to have played in Windsor tonight but League officials have yet to confirm whether the Jr. Miners will travel to Windsor next Friday evening.

Other games on tonight’s schedule besides the East Hants-Windsor contest has the Colts hosting Brookfield and Pictou in Antigonish to play the Jr. Bulldogs.  All games are slated for 7:30 p.m.

Another change to this weekend’s schedule has seen the Pictou-Eskasoni game moved from this Sunday in Eskasoni to Saturday, Jan 17th at 4:00 p.m.
