Eagles score five unanswered......Colts tie series in Fox

The Eskasoni Jr. Eagles put themselves back into their series with the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs with a 6-2 win in Antigonish Sunday evening.  The win leaves the Jr. Eagles trailing the Sid Rowe Best-of-Seven Division Final 2-1.

 
The Jr. Bulldogs went ahead 2-1 in the second period before the Jr. Eagles responded with five consecutive goals which included a pair along with an assist from Tyson LeFrense.  LeFrense tied the game at 2-2 with 5:11 to play in the second period.  Owen Buckley put the Jr. Eagles up 3-2 with a goal less than two minutes to play in the second.  The three third period goals for Eskasoni were tallied by Kendrick Marshall, Noah MacKinnon and Pierce Hutchings.  Marcellus Francis recorded a pair of assists for the Jr. Eagles to help the winning cause.
 
Will McKinnon scored in the first period for Antigonish to leave the clubs tied at 1-1 after twenty minutes and Gavin Clarke gave the Jr. Bulldogs their only lead of the game with his goal in the second period.
 
Bulldogs goalie Ethan Chisholm suffered his first loss in nets during the 25-26 playoffs but still holds and incredible 1.57 GAA and 0.946 save percentage.  Darian McInnis stopped 30 of 32 shots in the Eskasoni nets with the Jr. Eagles outshooting Antigonish 43-32.
 
Game 4 in this series goes Wednesday evening in Eskasoni at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Antigonish for Game 5 Friday night at 7:30 p.m.  In the Fred Fox Division Final Sunday:

The Colts evened their series with the Lumberjacks at 2-2 as Kyle MacIntyre took a costly major penalty for checking from behind that also included a game misconduct.  The major enabled the Colts to score three power-play goals in the final 5:41 of the opening period to take a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes and never look back.  The Colts outshot the Lumberjacks 51-23, scored three more times in the third including a pair into an empty net from Liam Andrews and Connor Malana.  The three power-play markers for the Colts were tallied by Noah McPherson and Camden McKenzie who each added an assist and Nolan Stevens. Cooper Puma recorded two assists for the Colts.
 
Andrew George and and Brennan Coleman scored second period goals for the Lumberjacks to leave them down by only a goal after forty minutes.  With 8:09 to play in the third, Connor McPhee scored to put the Colts up by a pair at 4-2.
 
The series now shifts back to C.F.B. Shearwater Friday night at 7:30 with game 6 in Bridgewater Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
