MacVicar records 5th SO of playoffs

Alec MacVicar of the Colts was pulled from Friday’s game in Shearwater at the 46 minute mark after giving up 6 of the eventual seven goals Antigonish scored to record their third win of the NSJHL Championship Series.  However as has been the case for a long time, you don’t keep all-star goaltenders and MVP’s down for very long and the Jr. Bulldogs discovered that when they returned home to Antigonish Saturday night.  MacVicar recorded his fifth shut-out of the playoffs and 10th in total on the season as the Colts won their second game of the series 3-0 over the AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs. MacVicar stopped all 32 shots he faced and now has a 2.16 GAA in 17 games in this year’s playoffs.  The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first period but Nikolas Mokriakov playing in only third game the season for the Colts (all in the playoffs) scored the game winner 4:03 into the middle period for the Colts to put them up 1-0.  Cooper Puma with his 5th of the playoffs made it 2-0 with under seven minutes to go in the second.  Riley Henman scored the Colts third goal mid-way through the third period and that was all that was needed in a 3-0 Colts victory who will now aim to tie the Championship Series Friday evening at home at C.F.B.Shearwater in a 7:30 start.  Cody MacEachern stopped 26 of 29 shots for the Jr. Bulldogs and now has 1.99 goals against average in the playoffs.  The winner advances to the Don Johnson Memorial Cup in Liverpool beginning Tuesday night April 25.
