Blazers even series with Colts

Things can change in an instant and this is exactly what transpired in the playoff games held in the Fred Fox Divisional Semi-Final games played Friday night at C.F.B. Halifax at the Shearwater Arena and in East Hants at the Sportsplex:

 
 
Sackville   3       Capstone  1
 
The Colts were dominant  in the opening game of the series Monday night in Sackville when they blanked the Blazers 6-0.  The Blazers who were only .500 on the season and have kept Head Coach Dwight Dempsey scratching his head  practically every game this season as to what kind of performance he will be able to expect, rebounded with a solid effort and a 3-1 win.  Blazers held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before putting it away on an empty netter by Degen Noble with 1:34 left in regulation.  Tyler Puma’s goal on the power-play with 36 second to play in the second ruined Bryson Uberroi’s chance at a shut-out.  The Blazers outshot the Colts 35-34.  Game 3 in this series will also be played at CF.B.  Shearwater Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
 
 
Liverpool    6       East Hants     2
 
The East Hants Penguins will have to pay attention real quick, in the most lop-sided game played between these two clubs this winter, the Privateers went into Lantz but nothing with business on their minds and it showed as they tripled the Pens up 6-2.  Liverpool jumped quick and early posting leads of 2-1 and 5-2 after the opening twenty and forty minutes of action.  Cole Elliot scored the Privateers goal of the game with 1:12 remaining in regulation.  Eliott also collected a pair of assists while Carson Gallant score twice an added an assists for the winners.  Other goal scorers for the Privateers were Malcom Bussey with a pair and Riley Hurlburt.  Joey Merriam, Blake Irvine replied for the Pens who despite the score tested Liverpool Goalie Aidan Durnford on numerous occasions outshooting the Privateers 50-29 but Durnford was sizzling hot stopping 48 of the 50 shots he encountered.  Game 2 in this series goes Sunday afternoon at the Queens Place Emera Centre at 430 p..m.
