Fiona forces PPD of all 4 season-openers tonight

With weather like some are saying, "we have never experienced in the forecast," all 4 2022-2023 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Season Openers have been ppd. for Friday evening.  Hurricane Warnings have been posted for Antigonish and Halifax Counties along with rain estimated to be close to 100 millimetres, winds likely in excess of 100 KM/H and storm surge warnings, the 21-22 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Champions the Jr. Bulldogs have decided to postpone their game with the Membertou Jr. Miners at the Antigonish Arena.

Likewise at C.F.B. Shearwater, where the Sackville Blazers and Capstone Colts were set to face-off tonight, the game has been ppd due to Hurricane Warnings, rain and wind warnings.

No difference in Cumerland County and East Hants as the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates and Blues have ppd in Springhill and the Penguins and Valley likewise at the "Igloo" in East Hants where dangerous weather is in the forecast simply making it irresponsible for players and officials to make the road trips and fans anxiously awaiting the games to even consider making trips to the rink.

With the rain and wind forecast to subside somewhat by Saturday afternoon, teams will take a look at what, if  any damage has transpired and decisions will be made Saturday morning as to whether games will take place Saturday evening.
