NSJHL Teams to play 30 game schedule

All in their own division for 22-23

The 2022-2023 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Season will open one week from today with a total of four games on the agenda.  In Antigonish, arch-rivals Membertou and the league’s defending champions from 21-22,  the Jr. Bulldogs collide for a 7:30 game while Port Hawkesbury travels to Cumberland to begin a two-game weekend series.  In the Fred Fox Division, the Valley Maple Leafs will travel to East Hants and the Sackville Blazers will play the Capstone Colts.

Inflation better known as high gas prices placed a choke-hold around the necks of the League’s Board of Governors with a difficult decision for 22-23.  If they had continued with the traditional one home and one away with Sid Rowe Division Teams and like wise for the Fox Division,  a number of teams were looking at budget increases of close to or better than $100,000.  After much discussion, it was agreed the Sid Rowe Division Teams would play each other a total of 6 games, 3 home and 3 away with the Fox Division doing likewise.  Liverpool opens at home at the Emera Centre in Queens County Saturday Oct 1 against the Sackville Blazers.

The league will play a total of 180 games with the regular season closing Sunday Feb 26th.  The playoffs will begin within days after the close of the regular season in anticipation of the Don Johnson Memorial Cup scheduled for Liverpool in late April.  The Johnson Memorial Cup is symbolic of Atlantic Junior Hockey Supremacy in the four Atlantic Provinces.
