Clark scores 4 in Jr. Miners overtime loss......Oxen win season-series but lose in Lantz 5-3

Any hope the Windsor Oxen might have had at overtaking the East Hants Penguins for third place in the Fred Fox Division all but disappeared in Lantz Friday night as the Penguins scored a pair of unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Oxen 5-3.  There was also one other game, this one decided in overtime in Port Hawkesbury.

East Hants went up 2-1 after the opening period before the Oxen outscored the Pens 2-1 in the second to tie the game at 3-3 entering the third.  Chris Caissie scored the game winner for the Pens in the third and Logan Durno added an empty-netter with 50 seconds left in regulation to give East Hants the win.  The Penguins are now 16-7-2 for 34 points while the Oxen slipped to 11-12-3 for 25 points.
 
In the first, Jayson Hanson for East Hants and Dylan Manning for the Oxen scored goals 3 minutes apart to tie the game at 1-1.  Thomas Panapolis scored the go ahead goal for the Pens to give his team a 2-1 lead after the first.
 
In th second, Aidan MacLeod tied it 2-2 for the Oxen before Finley Diab put the Pens back on top 3-2 with his penalty shot marker.  Matthew Shields tied the game for the Oxen at 3-3 entering the third.  Jacob Sanford of Kennetcook collected a pair of assists to give him 16 on the season and a total of 23 points.  The Oxen who return to the ice Saturday afternoon in Brookfield outshot the Penguins 41-39.  The Penguins will travel to Bridgewater for a 7:00 p.m. game Saturday evening.  Windsor and East Hants concluded their season series with the Oxen having a record of 3-1-1 in their five game while the Pens finished 2-3-0.  Windsor outscored East Hants 20-19 over the five games.

In the Strait, a see-saw battle saw the Pirates eventually win 7-6 in overtime on a goal from Craig Saulnier.  The Strait Pirates took a 3-1 lead after the opening period before the Jr. Miners rallied to take a 5-4 lead after forty minutes.  Landon Clark led the way for the Jr. Miners with 4 goals giving him 20 on the season to go along with 13 assists for 33 points.  Tyler Seymour collected three assists for the Jr. Miners giving him 15 goals and 20 assists on the season for 35 points.
 
Scoring for the Strait Pirates in the opening period were Colin Preyer, Carson McEachern and Cadyn Power after Clark had opened the game’s scoring for the Jr. Miners.  The Jr. Miners scored four straight to begin the second from Ty Oliver, Rory Mills and a pair from Landon Clark.  Colin Peryer’s power-play goal with 21 seconds to play in the second brough the Strait back to within a goal entering the third.
 
In the third, Angus Berry and newcomer James Daalder put the Strait up 6-5 before Landon Clark scored his fourth of the game for the Jr. Miners with only 2:26 left in regulation to send the game to sudden-death overtime.  The Strait Pirates are now 8-14-1 for 17 points on the season while the Jr. Miners fell to 4-19-2 for 10 points.  Port Hawkesbury outshot the Jr. Miners 53-38.  The Jr. Miners host the first place Eskasoni Jr. Eagles Saturday night while the Strait Pirates travel to Antigonish.
