Colts following theme of 1981 smash hit

A number of hockey fans in their early-mid 30's and beyond will likely remember the 1981 Contemporary Top 40 Chart Topper by Ray Parker Jr. and Radio entitled “You can’t change that.”

This writer only mentions this as the song title as it certainly reflects the actions of the Capstone Colts this season. Actions that can only be described as “winning."  They did just that by winning their 14th consecutive game Monday night in Sackville by a count of 8-3.  The Colts improved to 20-3-0 or 40 points and now have a commanding 8 point lead over the South Shore Lumberjacks for first place in the Fred Fox Division, with just a month remaining in the regular season.

The defending Provincial Junior Champions and Blazers played an even two periods with Sackville leading 2-1 after one and the Colts tying the game at 3-3 after forty minutes.  The Colts did all their damage in the third period scoring five times led by Cody Garcin who notched his 22nd goal of the season and Liam Andrews who scored his 21st.  Garcin also collected 2 assists and Andrews 3 assists to give them both 43 points on the season.

Other goal scorers in the third period explosion included Finn Merritt, Nolan Stevens and Jacob Trioni-Willis.  Other Colt marksmen were Noah MacPherson, Brandt Whitelaw and Cooper Puma.  The Colts outshot the Blazers 60-42.   Goals for the Blazers were tallied by James Cameron, Brody Fitzpatrick and Dylan Probert who fell to 8-14-0 and five points back of the fourth place Windsor Oxen.  The Oxen and Blazers collide Friday night in Windsor starting at 7:30 p.m.
