Oxen rally with OT win.....Eskasoni notches 11th win of season

Oxen rally with OT win.....Eskasoni notches 11th win of season

The Windsor Oxen on a goal from Wilson Davison with 4 seconds left in Sudden-Death overtime nipped the Brookfield Elks 4-3 in Windsor Sunday night.  In the process, they won their fourth game in their last five starts.

 
 
The win for the Oxen did not exactly come the easy way as they had to rally from a 3-1 deficit after two periods for the win.  Cale McClellan scored with 24 seconds left in the opening period to give the Elks a 1-0 lead after the first.  In the second, Jackson Spraggon and Brady Croft with 24 seconds left in the second period made it 3-1 Elks after Jacob Gerhardt pulled the Oxen to within 2-1 earlier in the second.
 
In the third, Gerhardt scored his second of the game and then Micah Tucker tallied the game tying goal to send the contest into overtime.  The Elks outshot the Oxen 39-36.  The Oxen who will host the Pictou County Scotians Friday night in Windsor at 7:30 are now at 7-7-2 on the season for 16 points.  The Elks are 3-12-1 for seven points.  Elsewhere Sunday:

The Jr. Miners coming off a huge win over Antigonish Saturday night could not make it two straight as they were defeated by the Scotians 6-4.
 
The Scotians took command early and led 4-1 after the first period but the Jr. Miners persisted and scored three unanswered goals in the second to send the game into the third tied at 4-4.  Chris Jorden and Sam Maddison scored goals for Pictou in the final period and allow the Scotians to move back into sole position of second in the Rowe Division with a 9-9-0 record for 18 points.  In the opening period, Amias Crossman, Nate Supryka, Wyatt Spence and Lane Lochead scored for Pictou while Tyler Seymour tallied for the Jr. Miners.
 
In the second Brady Matheson, Hudson Clarke and Ty Oliver short-handed scored allowing the Jr. Miners to knot the score at 4 entering the third.  Pictou outshot the Jr. Miners 49-33.

The Jr. Eagles recorded their 11th win of the season in defeating the Strait Pirates with a third period rally.  The clubs were tied 1-1 after the first with Owen Buckley scoring on the power-play for the Jr. Eagles and Landon MacIntosh for the Strait.  The Pirates who are now 6-10-1 took a 3-2 lead after two periods on goals from Ben MacDonald and then Colin Preyer with less than a minute to play in the middle frame.  Keagen Geizer added a goal n between the two Strait goals for Eskasoni.
 
In the third, a pair of power-play goals from Noah MacKinnon and and Jesse Cathcart gave the Jr. Eagles the win and allowed them to stay four points ahead of the Scotians in the race for first place in the Rowe Division.  Marcellus Francis recorded three assists for the Jr. Eagles who outshot the Pirates 45-35 with Andrew Burke turning away 32 of 35 shots for the Jr. Eagles and Neil MacLean 41 of 45 for the Strait Pirates.
