Bulldogs get doubled up....Lumberjacks now have sole position of first in Fox

The Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs fresh off a 6-5 win over Eskasoni at home Friday night, fell flat Saturday in Membertou as they were beaten by the now 4-12-0 Jr. Miners to remain three points behind the Jr. Eagles in the chase for first place in the Sid Rowe Division.

 
The Jr. Miners did not waste anytime in getting started as Landon Clarke scored a pair in the first period to go along with markers from Ty Oliver and Hudson Clarke for the Jr. Miners while Will MacKinnon scored for the Bulldogs.  The score remained 4-1 entering the third as neither team scored in the second.  Tully Grant scored twice for the Bulldogs in the third but they were sandwiched between goals from the Jr. Miners Tyler Seymour as the Jr. Miners won 6-3.  The Bulldogs are now 8-7-1.  They outshot the Jr, Miners 33-23.
 
 
The South Shore Lumberjacks won their 13th game of the season against two losses, defeating the now 3-12-0 Brookfield Elks Saturday afternoon in Brookfield.  Cohen Westlake and Kyle MacIntyre’s goals in the first put the visitors up 2-0 after one period.  Leo MacLean made it 3-0 Lumberjacks in the second before Bryson Currie and Nate Grafstein pulled the Elks to within a single goal entering the third.  Andrew George and Landon Garber scored in the third for the Lumberjacks to walk away with the 5-2 win.  Keegan Greencorn stopped 32 of 34 shots for the South Shore while Cole Echlin turned away 39 off 44 shots for the Elks who travel to Windsor Sunday night for 7:30 game with the Oxen.
