Andrews 4 point night as Colts blast Lumberjacks

A locomotive loaded to the rim tore through the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre in Bridgewater Friday evening as the locomotive, more aptly named the Capstone Colts battered the South Shore Lumberjacks 9-1 in Game 2 of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League’s Fred Fox Division Final.

This thrashing by the defending Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Champions came after the Colts were defeated 3-2 in overtime by the South Shore Wednesday night at C.F.B. Shearwater.

Leading the way for the Colts Friday was Liam Andrews who scored twice and added a pair of assists while Cody Garcin collected a goal and also added a pair of assists.  Other Colt goal scorers were Finn Merritt who also had an assist, Luke McPhee, Xavier Coggins, Connor Malana, Matthew Walker and Cooper Puma who also registered an assist.  Connor McPhee recorded a pair of assists for the Colts as well.

The Colts scored three goals apiece in each of the three periods and were only tied for less than five minutes of the opening period and when Brennan Coleman scored for the Lumberjacks only 16 seconds after Merritt had put the Colts in front 1-0.  The Colts outshot the Lumberjacks 37-28.  Kegan Greencorn played the opening 34.20 of the game allowing 5 goals on 20 shots before he ws relieved by Colby O’Shaughnessy who played the final 25:40 and allowed 4 goals on 17 shots.  Will Aguirre stopped all but one of the 28 shots he faced in the Colt nets.

Game 3 in this series resumes Saturday night at C.F.B. Shearwater Forum with the opening face-off set for 6:30.  Game 4 swings back to Bridgewater Sunday.
