Pens force Game 6 in Lantz Saturday night at 8:00 p.m.

Like so many different times over at least the past three seasons when East Hants and South Shore play in the NSJHL, it is exceptionally difficult to figure out which defensive mistake or forward’s mistake will cost their team.  It has literally been a salad of games in which have been so unpredictable.

Friday night in Bridgewater in the fifth game of their Fred Fox Divisional Semi-Final was certainly no different as the Penguins forced a sixth game in the series by blanking the Lumberjacks 2-0.  Jayson Hanson’s goal with 28 seconds remaining in the second period proved to be the insurance marker while Aiden Nicholson’s goal 1:33 after the opening face-off proved to be the winning goal for the Penguins who now trail 3-2 going back to Lantz for Game 6 Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m.

Colby Brown who has been on fire for the Penguins in the playoffs for the majority of time recorded his second shut-out of the playoffs stopping 27 shots.  He now has a 1.62 GAA and a .952 save percentage in this year’s playoffs.  The Lumberjacks played the game’s final 3:18 with an empty net but could not succeed in tying the game.  Kegan Greencorn was strong for the Lumberjacks as well as he faced 34 shots from the Penguins.

In the five games to date, the Lumberjacks have outscored the Penguins 15-14 setting up another tantalizing affair in Lantz Saturday night.  If a Game 7 is required, it will be played in Bridgewater Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

The winner of this series will play the Capstone Colts in the Best-of-Seven Fred Fox Divisional Final.
