Oxen sneak by Blazers in OT

In what is shaping up to be a sensational opening round Best-of-Five Playoff series between the Sackville Blazers and Windsor Oxen, the latest example took place in Sackville Monday night as the teams played their fifth and final regular season game between them.

 
Wilson Davison’s overtime goal, his 15th of the season just 1:43 into the five-minute sudden death overtime gave the Oxen a 3-2 win.  It gave Windsor a 4-1 series win over the Blazers in the regular season but when you keep in mind, two of these five games went into overtime, the Blazers were 1-2-2 against the Oxen.  The Oxen outscored Sackville 25-19 over the five games.
 
Dylan Manning scored the Oxen’s opening two goals giving him 18 on the season to go along with 23 assists for 41 points.  Adam Maillet tied the game at 1-1 before the first period concluded.  Ryland Skerry then put the Blazers in front 2-1 entering the third before Manning connected for his second marker of the contest in the third.
 
The goaltending was sensation at both ends of the rink with Graydon Mole recording 48 saves on the 50 shots he faced while Leaf Korthals turned away 35 of 38 shots in the Blazers net.
 
The Oxen conclude their regular season in Windsor Friday night against the Capstone Colts at 7:30 while the Blazers still have three games remaining in their regular season.  Sackville will play Brookfield at home Friday night, travel to Brookfield Saturday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. before ending their season on the holiday Monday evening when they play host to the East Hants Penguins at 7:30 p.m.
